Curious about a bump from Anon

Dear Word Spy,

Does anyone know the origin of the phrase "bump of curiosity?"

from Anon

Dear Anon,

Well, I must say until Karen T used the expression in a post on this blog on April 13, I had never heard of it!

So, word spies, it's over to you. Does anyone know where this expression might come from?

Yours, curiously bumpy,

The Word Spy
